The taste of summer has reached our restaurant, and The Royal’s lunch and dinner menus now feature seasonal delights like local asparagus, wild strawberries, Isle of Wight lamb, and sorbets in flavours reminiscent of long, sunny days - strawberry, raspberry, white peach, nectarine, mango and passionfruit. Following in the footsteps of our perennially popular Gallybagger cheese soufflé, we have now created a dessert option to similarly tantalise your palate: try our raspberry soufflé served with raspberry ripple ice-cream and Eton Mess, and experience the essence of summer in each spoonful!
"A very enjoyable stay at your hotel over the weekend. Highlights were the superb food and impeccable service, and I really do mean impeccable service." Jon Butler
Overlooking Ventnor Bay and the English Channel, we source the freshest seafood from the waters surrounding us. Our Catch Of The Day depends on what the fishermen land that morning, and might feature anything from sea trout, skate, turbot, bream, plaice, sole or sea bass, as well as local crab and lobster - all deftly cooked by our accomplished chefs.
Embrace our glorious coastal location and charter The Royal’s new luxury RIB. It’s a superb way to explore the Island’s beautiful coastline, and with 6 seats you can comfortably take family and friends out for an unforgettable day on the water. When the weather warms up, simply dive straight into the invitingly clean water to refresh body and mind. We can also supply you with a gourmet picnic hamper to enjoy lunch at Newtown Creek, or some chilled champagne to accompany the yacht racing during Cowes Week.
If you prefer to keep your feet firmly on dry land, there are plenty of beautiful footpaths to choose from, where you can take in soaring views or explore some of the island's 67-mile coastal path. Ask our Reception staff for our favourite local routes. And when it is finally time to return home, take a piece of the Island back with you with a cutting from the glorious Pink Desert Geranium that adorns our Geranium Terrace - a favourite spot with so many of our visitors, and happy reminder of relaxing days in the island sun.
