Compton Fossil Hunting

travel back in time 130 million years

Join Wight Coast Fossils at the National Trust's Compton Bay and travel back in time 130 million years to the Cretaceous period as you discover the fossils of the Compton coast.

These walks are an exciting family activity and a fantastic opportunity to explore the beach whilst walking in the footsteps of dinosaurs. Learn about the Island's fascinating geological past, why it's such an important site for fossil hunting, and discover real dinosaur foot casts. You'll have the chance to find your very own pieces of fossilised wood and bone, or perhaps even a fossil tooth.
