Award Winning Training at The Royal

Built in 1832, The Royal is the Island’s premier four-star hotel and shares the rare privilege of being one of only 30 establishments to be listed in every Michelin Guide since it was first published in 1911. The Royal was also the first hotel on the Island to achieve Four Stars, AA rating and has held 2 AA Rosettes for excellent food for over 20 consecutive years.

We have seasonal part time positions available in our award-winning food and beverage departments.

The Royal Hotel Ventnor is the leading hotel on the Isle of Wight and we are looking for new members to complement and expand our existing team. Customer service is something we are very proud of at The Royal, having previously won the Chamber of Commerce award for Excellence in Customer Service in recent years.

We’re looking for candidates who’ll be enthusiastic, be able to work as part of a team, demonstrate a flair for delivering a fantastic customer experience, a desire to learn new skills as well as a passion for food and beverage.

In return, we can offer you the chance to gain new skills and receive training in various areas of the business so that you’ll be able to cover all areas of food and beverage including weddings and special events.

Rate of pay: Competitive rates + tips

Working hours will be predominantly during the peak season (May-September), including weekends and bank holidays however employment is available 12 months of the year including the festive season with variable hours available during the winter months. Shift patterns vary as we can serve up to 300 covers a day in the peak months over breakfast, lunch, afternoon and dinner.

Prior experience of working in the hospitality sector is preferable, but not essential. It is crucial to be smart, well-groomed with a positive attitude. We take service very seriously - in fact we believe it is an art form.

HOUSEKEEPER

We have seasonal part time positions in our housekeeping department.

The Royal Hotel Ventnor is the leading hotel on the Isle of Wight and we are looking for two new members to complement and expand our long standing housekeeping team. Exemplary cleanliness is something we strive for at The Royal so we are looking for candidates who are hard working, show pride in their work, will work well as part of a team and independently, and have a desire to provide fantastic customer service.

Rate of pay: Competitive rates + tips

Duties include the cleaning and preparation of rooms for guest’s arrival and during their stay. Shifts are daytime only and can vary between 4-7 hours per day.

Prior experience of working in a cleaning role is preferable, but not essential. It is crucial to be smart, well-groomed with a positive attitude.

BREAKFAST CHEF

The Royal Hotel Ventnor is the leading hotel on the Isle of Wight and we are looking for a Breakfast Chef to expand our talented Kitchen brigade. The Royal has produced 2 AA rosette food for almost 25 consecutive years and breakfast is an important part of the Royal dining experience for all resident guests. Are you a morning person, dedicated, enthusiastic, punctual and want to help us provide our guests with the most important meal of the day?

We’re looking for candidates who have at least 2 years chef experience, will be able to work independently, as well as part of a team, demonstrate a flair for delivering a very high standard of food and have a desire to learn new skills.

Hours of work: 6.00am - 2.00pm, 5 days a week to include weekends.

Rate of pay: £9.00 per hour + holiday pay + tips

JUNIOR SOUS CHEF

Experienced Junior Sous Chef

The Royal Hotel is looking for a Junior Sous Chef to join our growing family of great chefs. If you would like to join an enthusiastic team in a premium hotel working with fine food at two AA rosette standard continually pushing for the next level, then you could be just what we are looking for!

We are looking for someone with at least 4 years’ experience working in a structured kitchen environment, in different kitchen teams with the emphasis on experience cooking to a two AA rosette level.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Ability to help lead and motivate the kitchen team in the Island’s premiere hotel
  • Ability to run the pass with consistent attention to detail on every dish on other senior chef’s days off
  • To include breakfast and afternoon teas together with lunch and dinner services
  • Ability to work as part of a team and individually
  • Preparing, cooking and presenting dishes using the best local produce
  • Have experience of cooking for banquets and weddings up to 120
  • Helping the head chef develop new seasonal dishes and menus.
  • Ensuring the team maintain the highest of standards when it comes to food hygiene and food presentation
  • Working 5 days out of 7 including evenings, weekends and public holidays
