Built in 1832, The Royal is the Island’s premier four-star hotel and shares the rare privilege of being one of only 30 establishments to be listed in every Michelin Guide since it was first published in 1911. The Royal was also the first hotel on the Island to achieve Four Stars, AA rating and has held 2 AA Rosettes for excellent food for over 25 consecutive years.

BAR AND RESTAURANT TEAM MEMBERS

Rates of pay:
Up to £10.50 per hour for fully trained and experienced Bar/Restaurant Staff
Above minimum wage for those that are new or are still learning their craft in the industry
All staff receive a share of the tips paid out annually (full-time - average £1000.00 per year)

The Royal Hotel Ventnor is the leading hotel on the Isle of Wight and we are looking for new members to complement and expand our existing team. Customer service is something we are very proud of at The Royal, having previously won the Chamber of Commerce award for Excellence in Customer Service in recent years.

We’re looking for candidates who’ll be enthusiastic, be able to work as part of a team, demonstrate a flair for delivering a fantastic customer experience, a desire to learn new skills as well as a passion for food and beverage.

Working hours will be predominantly during the peak season (May-September), including weekends and bank holidays however employment is available 12 months of the year including the festive season with variable hours available during the winter months. Shift patterns vary as we can serve up to 300 covers a day in the peak months over breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner.

Prior experience of working in the hospitality sector is preferable, but not essential. It is crucial to be smart, well-groomed with a positive attitude. We take service very seriously - in fact we believe it is an art form.

HOUSEKEEPER

We have seasonal part time positions in our housekeeping department.

The Royal Hotel Ventnor is the leading hotel on the Isle of Wight and we are looking for two new members to complement and expand our long standing housekeeping team. Exemplary cleanliness is something we strive for at The Royal so we are looking for candidates who are hard working, show pride in their work, will work well as part of a team and independently, and have a desire to provide fantastic customer service.

Rate of pay: Competitive rates + tips

SENIOR CHEF DE PARTIES

Hours: 42.5 hours per week (4-5 working days) - £30,940 per annum + overtime paid at £14 per hour

MARKETING ACTIVATION MANAGER

The Royal is the Isle of Wight’s Premier AA Four Star Hotel. As a family run hotel, we strive to provide the highest level of experience and service for the many Loyal Royals and new guests from around the world.

We are now looking for a Marketing Activation Manager to deliver the hotels Strategic Marketing Plan. The ideal candidate is highly skilled at managing relationships across various stakeholder groups, has experience leading within a complex matrixed environment to drive business results, and is well versed in effective business storytelling, to be able to articulate the drivers of performance and grow business in key areas in line with the business strategy.

Job Purpose

Responsible for delivering marketing activities to reflect the hotel’s growth strategy and deliver optimum room and restaurant occupancy levels. This role would work closely alongside Management, The Board of Directors and an experienced sales team in order to raise the profile and visibility of the hotel. The role involves leveraging and amplifying the marketing tactics available to grow a wider customer database of returning guests and convert more sales in the shoulder months.

Role and responsibilities:

• Works cross-functionally with the sales team to plan, execute, and optimise marketing efforts as part of the company’s sophisticated go-to-market approach to achieve optimal room occupancy and revenue goals

• Creative lead for all social media channels with an aim of growing following and engagement through paid and organic posts

• Create compelling and engaging content for email campaigns and print newsletters

• Responsible for planning and implementing all digital marketing campaigns, including Google Ads, social media advertising, third party hosted advertising

• Manage relationships and communication between our main referral sites and print advertisers

• Develop initiatives to bring in new revenue channels with a primary focus on accommodation and secondary focus on dining

• To monitor and update the website on a weekly basis, providing updates to the management team on campaign performance and improvements to be made

• Regular targeted press releases and relationship building with national reporters

• Contribute to creating new events and packages alongside the existing sales team

• Collaborate with all relevant partners (inclusive of ferry companies, Visit Isle of Wight, Visit Britain) and suppliers to propose competitions, cross-promotions and any opportunities for visibility

• Responsible for monitoring all reviews on TripAdvisor, Google and Facebook with an aim of increasing positive reviews and brand identity

• Act as a brand champion and be responsible for consistency of the overall brand including tone of voice and strong visual identity across all channels (including digital, print menus, signage)

• Collate and interpret data on results and impacts of all marketing activities

Person specification

• Minimum of 4 years’ experience in marketing preferably within the hospitality sector

• Preferable background within public relations, but not essential

• Positive attitude and able to work of their own initiative
