Dear Loyal Royals,
I sincerely hope this finds you and your family in good health.
We were all terribly sorry to have to close the doors of the hotel in March, in accordance with government guidelines, and have missed seeing The Royal abuzz with its usual guests and diners. However, we have not been idle over the past few months! Gary, our Head Gardener, has been busy keeping the lawns and flower beds in impeccable shape; the Bar has been repainted and carpeted, and the Conservatory has also had a re-vamp. In addition, we welcome a new Head Chef - Ben Chamberlain (previously at The Hut in Colwell Bay) who will be bringing his creative flair with Island produce to The Royal’s restaurant menu.
As lockdown measures lift, we look forward to welcoming you back from the 14th July 2020. There will be new measures in place to keep everyone safe (detailed overleaf). We shall have a limited number of rooms available to book at this current time, in order to facilitate social distancing and heightened hygiene measures. Please do not hesitate to place your summer booking with us, and be one of the first guests back to enjoy The Royal’s hospitality. Rest assured that if, for any reason, you are unable to travel, we will be honour your deposit for stays booked within 12 months of the re-opening of the hotel. Additionally, for every booking made, we shall be making a donation to the NHS charities in recognition of their incredible service during this challenging time.
I was delighted to see the Isle of Wight named as BBC Countryfile’s Holiday Destination of the Year (2020), with voters praising its “iconic chalk downs, golden beaches, pretty towns and villages, secret woodlands, family-friendly seaside fun, and wildlife aplenty”. Ventnor was also highlighted in this month’s Country Living magazine as one of the top five places in the country to “sit by the shore and watch the waves”. On a fine day (and, last month, every day seemed to be finer than the last!), there’s really nowhere better to be.
With my very best wishes,
William
