Alum Bay Glass

Glass Blowing

Established in 1972, Alum Bay Glass is the Isle of Wight’s longest-established glassmaker producing beautiful and unique glassware with live demonstrations from our skilled local craftsmen.

From perfume bottles and vases to bowls, ornaments and doorknobs, our talented glassmakers create a wide range of one-of-a-kind glassware handcrafted right here on the island.

Isle of Wight Sweet Manufactory

During the 19th century, many new sweets were invented including some of today’s much-loved favourites such as candy floss, liquorice allsorts, jelly babies, wine gums and marshmallows. Now you can see the process for yourself in The Sweet Manufactory.

Watch in awe and wonder as our expert confectioners create sweet treats in front of your very eyes – then sample the results with more than 30 fantastic flavours to choose from.

Sand Shop

Filling a glass or plastic shape with layers of Alum Bay’s 21 shades of sand has been a tradition since the mid-1800s when Queen Victoria was presented with a special souvenir. Today, it’s a fond childhood memory for many.

In order to protect the cliff for future generations, guests are no longer able to collect their own sand, but can still create their own unique sand ornaments in The Sand Shop. Choose from a variety of shapes to fill yourself or buy a ready-filled item with handcrafted designs created by our very own sand expert.

4D Cinema Experience

You’ve seen 3D, now take a step into the immersive magic of cinema with our incredible 4D sensory experience where squirting water, air blasts, seat movement and more makes you feel like you’re right in the middle of the action.

Be drawn into an exciting world where everything you see is in incredible 4D and everything you hear is in powerful cinema surround sound – with the added fun of ‘feeling’ the action too!

Games Kiosk

Show the rest of the family what you’re made of by having a go at our traditional fairground games including Hook A Duck and Tin Can Alley. If you happen to be both skilled and lucky, there are some fantastic prizes to be won!

Pier Head Shop

The design of the Pier Head shopping emporium has a nod to the style of the 19th-century Alum Bay pier, which brought many visitors to the bay by paddle steamer during Victorian times.

Queen Victoria had a massive influence on the Isle of Wight, helping to put the island on the map as a holiday destination.

Naturally, as the Isle of Wight began to attract more Victorian holidaymakers, the desire for more traditional gifts and extravagant mementoes increased. Today, you can shop like a Victorian and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of bygone times as you browse the vast array of quality gifts, souvenirs and memorabilia on offer.

The Isle of Wight’s mellow climate enables the growth of a huge variety of local produce, from locally-brewed beer, wine and cider to organic fruit and vegetables and delicious locally-made ice creams and desserts.
Even better, you can get your hands on it right here at the Taste of the Wight.

Café Marconi’s

Café Marconi’s serves up fresh, wholesome meals, drinks and a selection of cakes in a casual dining setting. With plentiful outdoor patio seating, you can also dine ‘Al Fresco’ and take in both the sunshine and the atmosphere of Festival Street during the summer months.
