Thank you for your understanding

Senior Management Update

Updated Statement - Friday 9th July 2021

Dear Loyal Royals

Following on from our statement on 20th June 2021, we are delighted to confirm that our front of house and kitchen brigade are gradually expanding and we are now taking lunch reservations for non-residents every day, beginning Monday 19th July, as well as continuing with our Afternoon Teas.

From the 19th July onwards, we will be expanding our service to drinks on the lawn, morning coffees and light lunches, as well as cream teas in the afternoon. These services cannot be pre-booked and will all be subject to availability on the day.

Whilst we continue to work towards reaching a full hotel team, we are sadly still limited on our numbers for evening dinners. Therefore, our reduced capacity will continue to be available to residents only, on a first come first served basis for the foreseeable future. We will be doing everything possible to open this service back up as soon as we can.

We will continue to keep you informed with our recruitment progress and when we can expand our services for guests further.

We would once again like to thank our Loyal Royals for your continued patience and understanding at this time. We very much hope that you will continue to support our team through this challenging period.

Statement - 20th June 2021

Dear Loyal Royals

As you may already be aware, the impact of Covid-19 has sadly taken a great toll on the hospitality industry. At last, to the relief of hospitality owners and staff, hotels and restaurants have finally been able to reopen. However, the pandemic has created significant challenges in the industry, in particular staffing. This coupled with the new Brexit regulations, has meant there is now a severe lack in hospitality professionals UK wide, but particularly on the Isle of Wight.

Because of these challenges, The Royal is having to further adapt it’s way of operating temporarily. Whilst we would love to be operating at full capacity, we have decided to reduce our lunch offering to weekends only for the foreseeable future. Rest assured, we will be honouring any existing weekday bookings already made. These short-term capacity limits are in place to ensure you continue to receive the high level of service and experience you have come to expect from The Royal. We will continue to be able to offer Afternoon Tea daily, however bookings are recommended at least one week in advance as demand is high.

The physical and mental wellbeing of our staff is of paramount importance to us and it is crucial that the team are not overstretched beyond their limits. In the meantime, we are putting every available resource behind encouraging new or returning professionals into the industry.

We are working tirelessly to ensure we can resume ‘business as usual’ as soon as we can and are very much hoping to welcome our Loyal Royals back for weekday lunches and evening dinner’s for non-residents very soon. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your patience and understanding at this time and hope that you will support us and the Island Hospitality community through this challenging period.
