A stay at The Royal is always a multi-faceted experience

Royal Experiences

Are you a food-lover keen to discover the Isle of Wight’s thriving artisan food scene? Or perhaps a specialist wine-tasting event would tantalise your tastebuds? Do history and culture bring a destination alive for you, or are you seeking a spa-like experience from your next visit to The Royal? Whatever your passion or interests, we hope you will enjoy the new events we have devised for 2020 to offer our guests a selection of thoroughly entertaining experiences during their time on the Isle of Wight.

Coming up on the 2nd March is the first of the year’s wine-tasting evenings, focusing on wines from the Burgundy region of France. Co-hosted by Majestic Wines, our Burgundy Wine Evening gives you the chance to sample appellations that include Chablis, Côte de Nuits, Côte De Beaune, Côte Chalonnaise and Maconnais. A complimentary two-course menu of French cuisine will follow the wine-tasting. Also in March is our popular Gastronomic Weekend, where guests will enjoy cookery demonstrations and visits to the renowned Isle of Wight Cheese Company and The Garlic Farm - as well as gourmet meals from The Royal’s own acclaimed chefs each evening.

History lovers will relish our Historic Isle mini-break from 28th April - 1st May, when Island-based author Robin McInnes welcomes The Royal’s guests with a talk on the art and history of the Isle of Wight. A visit to Queen Victoria’s summer palace at Osborne follows, with a guided tour and lunch in the magnificent Terrace Restaurant. Afterwards, guests can enjoy a visit to the Grade 1 listed Quarr Abbey, where Benedictine monk Father Luke will lead a tour of the abbey and offer insights into monastic life.

In early May, our Royal Reunion welcomes guests for a weekend of live music, entertainment and fine dining - starting with a drinks and canapé reception hosted by The Royal’s very own William Bailey. Meet up with some of the the hotel’s regular guests, and revisit our glorious 25th anniversary celebrations of last summer. If rest and relaxation is top of your wish-list, book onto our Mind & Body Holiday from 15-18th May, and revive yourself with our menu of treatments, yoga, mindfulness and meditation.

We’ll be adding to our calendar of experiences throughout the year, to help guests get the most out of their visits to the Island. We look forward to offering something for everyone - although a stay at The Royal is always a multi-faceted experience that appeals as much to gourmets, sunseekers and horticulturists as to music-lovers, culture vultures and those wanting to explore the stunning scenery and seascapes of the Isle of Wight.
